Rissala Collection
This artefact, representing the Vajra, holds great significance as a symbol in Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism. Reflecting indestructibility (with its name deriving from the Tibetan word for diamond), it also stands for active principle and method, often involving compassion. Its five prongs are often shown to radiate outwards on either end as well- symbolising the Five Wisdoms in Buddhism, which act as powerful tools transforming negative emotions (anger, greed, suffering, ignorance etc.) into positive constructive qualities. This transformative power of the vajra makes it a significant icon in Vajrayana Buddhist faith.
