Miniature Shikhara, Pehowa

Department of Archaeology and Museums, Haryana

This miniature shikhara is ostensibly an architectural fragment of an older temple structure. Made of buff sandstone, one can observe the intricate work involved in this- beyond the layering done in the shikhara itself, one can note smaller shikharas on the corners, and the overwhelming dominance of floral motifs. A lotus centric design is visible in the middle, along with embellishments in the decorative boundaries in the upper corners- which have received damage. Despite peripheral damage, the shikhara itself is more or less intact.
