Jahaj kothi, Hisar
Here in this sculpture the lower section of the Mahishasuramardini depiction, who is majestically seated upon a lion. This powerful imagery captures the goddess in the dynamic act of slaying the asura Mahisha, a demon often depicted as a buffalo. It is important to note that the upper part of this representation is unfortunately damaged, which limits our understanding of the full context and details of the scene. The lower section remains rich in iconographic significance. To the left of the viewer, an attendant lady can be observed, likely serving as a companion or devotee to the goddess. Additionally, a small portion of Mahisasuramardini's lower garment is visible, hinting at the intricate attire that characterizes her divine form. This garment may be identified as a Mekhla.
