Ishana is one of the dikpalas (lokapalas), guardians of cardinal direction quarters. He is associated with the north-eastern direction. Ishana is wearing a high knotted crown, elaborate jewellery and fine drapery. Traces of trisula (trident) and snake are visible in upper right and left hand respectively. Lower hands are resting on attendants ayudhapurushas. Ox (vahana) of Ishana is sitting near his feet. Ishana is one of the benevolent aspects of Shiva.
