Hara Surya (Revant)

Bhima Devi Temple Site Museum, Pinjore

This is a partially damaged standing image of a deity in a Tribhanga posture with four hands. The lower two hands are missing, but the remaining hand is likely in the Varada mudra. The upper right hand holds a trident or possibly a Danda, while the left hand grips a lotus. The deity is adorned with a crown, necklace, and other ornaments. This image represents a syncretistic blend of Siva and Surya. A reference to such an image of Siva with Surya can be found in the Ekamra Purana.
