Rissala Collection
The Chauri Bearer initially served as a symbol within the Hindu faith, which was subsequently adopted by Buddhist and Jain artistic traditions. This sculpture showcases a finely carved stone relief of a woman, Chauri Bearer, given her serene expression and graceful pose. The Chauri Bearer stands gracefully on a Padma Peetha, viewers right side her one arm raised above her head, holding a Chauri. Her other hand rests gently on her belly area. She wears a traditional Indian Lehenga Choli with intricate folds and pleats, adorned with bands and bangles on her hands.
